In psychology, the concept of intersectionality acknowledges how our social identities - and the systems of privilege and oppression we live within - intersect and interact to shape our experiences and mental health.
This is the approach I take to assessing and treating emotional well-being. I recognise that human beings cannot be understood or analysed solely through one dimension of identity; I consider the different parts of you that make you you and how your emotional well-being has been shaped within the context you live and work within.
